I decided not to shoot this past weekend, I didnt really have a reason why, I guess I just needed a break from it, but one thing I did do instead was ride my new bike quite a bit. It has been awhile since I had a bike and rode, but it was a nice change of pace to just get out and ride by the Platte River and just enjoy being outdoors without having to frame a shot?
Trying again
So last week was, for the most part a bust. I managed to shoot a few pictures of the Denver skyline from City Park on Saturday, but on Sunday, a lack of money and Mother Nature’s wrath conspired to ruin all of the 4th as torrential rains and hail made shooting a frivolous endeavor? Monday was better, but by then, I was more interested in seeing a movie, rather than shoot. So, I shall try again with Buhda to shoot the Maroon Belles and the ghost town of Ashcroft near Aspen tomorrow. Stay tuned
Long weekend coming up
I ended up not shooting at all last weekend. I had to work in the morning, then when I got home, my computer started acting up, and I spent the entire day and evening trying to scrub it and getting back to running order. When this Dell finally dies, I will abandon PC’s forever and invest in a Mac. Apple makes far superior products to PC’s, and I look forward to using Aperture 3 as my photographic editor of choice.
As it turns out, it was probably best I didn’t go shooting as the upcoming weekend is a more opportune time for shooting. Instead of going out-of-town for the whole weekend as in years past, I have decided to take at least two-day trips, maybe a third if I am not burned out, and get more for my money. Stay tuned to see where I went and what I shot.
A great day of shooting in Rocky Mountain Nat. Park
I had a few choices of places to shoot yesterday, and after checking the weather, decided on RMNP, and boy was I glad I did. Mike LaBudha and I, (a friend from work who is also a photographer) drove up there and found that it was the perfect day for shooting. Calm winds, blue skies, and 78 degrees. The weather patterns in the park are all over the place…it can snow and be cold in July, and hot and dry in Winter? So to my surprise, it was a picture perfect day to shoot as the weather cooperated perfectly for a change. Check out the two new pics from there in the Landscapes and Flowers section on my site.
More images added to the site…and what I noticed
I loaded up some more images this evening, and what I noticed was I have a lot of images from the Moab Utah area in the Landscapes section. I didnt plan it that way, but I think my best shots come from a place like that because it quite simply is one the most stunning places in North America, hands down. If you have never visted there, I highly recommend seeing it, as it is almost other worldly in its beauty. I have been 4 times, and I still havent seen or shot it all…so one day, I will go back…again…and again.
New Site, New News
So its been a long time coming, but finally, the new website is online. I have streamlined the site, and put up my best work, as well as more recent work, than the old site had. I removed many pictures I had on the old site, mostly due to the fact that I wanted the new site to not have a ton of pictures, but the best pictures I have taken. The new site is far more user friendly. I dont have to get code written for a picture, and I can upload an image I just took, so long as I have a internet connection? I think the host site also displays the images in more detail and certainly larger than before. I used to have a tab called Trip Reports, but decided that I would use this place as a resource to “blog” about trips I have taken or plan to take or just to let anyone coming here know what I am doing or plan to do soon with my photography work or anything else I might be doing? I didnt like the words Trip Report…sounded to much like a school assignment. Besides, Blog is the catch word these days, so I went with Blog…for all you younger folks to relate to. ![]()
So check back often, I might have something to say about a trip I took or plan to take.
